New Arrival

We were blessed with another cute little niece the middle of November!

Cassi Marie is my sister and her husband's first child. Cassi was breech and was scheduled for a C-section, but she decided she didn't want to wait to come into the world. So, the night before her scheduled arrival, my sister's water broke and Cassi was brought into the world by emergency c-section instead.

She was a tiny 6 lbs 15 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. She has lots of dark hair, and big, beautiful dark eyes.

I was lucky enough to take a week and go to Twin Falls to stay with my sister and help her. I got spoiled for a week and had a hard time leaving my cute lil' niece behind when it came time to come home. Twin Falls has never seemed far away until now.

I am so excited for my sister and brother-in-law! This little baby girl has already brought so much joy and happiness into all of our lives!!! We are excited to watch her grow!

Pumpkin Carving

On Saturday, we had Kelli, Dan, & Halle over for some pumpkin carving fun!!! Kelli & Dan brought a bunch of pumpkins over that they had grown in G'ma B's garden. There were plenty of pumpkins to go around...so we got started. Within minutes, Curtis and I realized that Dan is no typical pumpkin carver...nope...he brought pumpkin carving to a whole new level for us!!! He pulled out templates and a drill!! And we thought we were just gonna go at it with a knife this year! Ha!

We all got creative and ended up making some really cool pumpkins! From witches...to pirates..to mummies...even the Boise State Bronco! What fun!?!

Did I mention that it was Halle's first time carving pumpkins?! She had her own little pumpkin to de-goo and carve! It was so cute watching her help scoop out her pumpkin's goop...and trying to eat it...and dumping it in the bowl! Then she got so comfortable, she laid out on the table and started drawing on the newspaper and sticking her foot in the holes of the pumpkin tops amidst all of us carving! It was so cute!!

The Art of Blogging

So...I've had numerous people say that we (Curtis and I) need to post to our blog more often. I've tried hard for the past couple weeks trying to think of stuff to put on our blog to update it more often. Unfortunately, we just aren't that exciting, I guess.

I've looked at everyone's blogs over and over...trying to figure out why other people post more often...and I've discovered it has do with KIDS!!! Yep...everyone of you that blog often tend to have kids...whether teenagers...or cute little ones to write about! And so...you always have new pictures and fun things to post!!! Curtis and I have yet to be married even one year still...and no little ones in the picture (or on the way in the near future...for anyone wondering). I guess I just haven't really encompassed the art of blogging yet. So, for now...you're just going to have to take us as our boring, blog every few weeks, selves! :) Ha-Ha!!! Until our next fun adventure...or a kid...stay posted!

Another Season Has Come & Gone

Another season has come & gone. And I'm not talking about the weather here. Yep...I'm talking flag football.

Curtis and his brother, Kyle, formed a team last year (Free Agents) and played city league flag football for the first time. They had a lot of fun and decided to do it again this year. They had a hard time getting a hold of their team members from last year, so they took on a bunch of new guys this year. Unfortunately, most of them didn't show up for practices or games. You have to have 6 guys to play, so when it came to game time, it got rough. Luckily, we always knew we could count on Curtis, Kyle, Mike, Nick, & Skyler for the games. The rest of the guys were hit & miss. Even Dan (our brother-in-law) played with us a time or two to make a full team so we could play.

Through all the chaos of finding a full team...they still got to play every game and had fun! Our team always had the biggest cheering section too! (Yea football wives & family!) :)

Our Backpacking Adventure

Curtis & I spent 4 days with some family members and nature last month. It started with us heading off early one morning towards Atlanta, Idaho with Rob in the Jeep and Ryan, Sabra, Rin, & Jackson in an SUV not far behind. The washboard dirt road gave us a newfound appreciation for pavement. And we discovered that even little towns with a population of 3 can have speed bumps on a bumpy, windy road to slow you down. After about 60 miles, we took a hard left right before Atlanta on China Basin road and soon thereafter found our trail head. We then got our packs strapped on and ventured off into the wilderness of the Sawtooth's where our real adventure began.
The landscape altered back and forth between shady forest and open meadows while the sun pounded us with it's rays. We forded many creeks and even came across a part of the river that we had to cross with pant legs rolled up and water shoes on (and may I note...as hot as it was outside, the temperature of the river could turn you into an instant icicle).
The hike carried on up and down hills, by waterfalls...and did I mention that it carried on uphill?! We hiked almost 10 miles that quickly careened up 2000 ft in elevation. The steep uphill soon became somewhat daunting with 40 lb packs on our backs, but we made it. And was it worth it?! We hiked in to the second of four of the Scenic Lakes. We camped, cooked, and hung out right beside a beautiful (and, yes...cold) mountain lake. Curtis, Rob, Ryan, & Rin cliff dove (I of course, took pictures and video - the freezing cold water was much less tempting to me)...and Curtis summited the surrounding mountains with Rob, finding a cool snow cave that they later tried to destroy.
When it came time to leave, we packed up our camp and set out the same way we hiked in. Our packs were lighter and our energy reboosted. The daunting steep uphill turned in to beautiful downhill slopes that took half the time to get down as it did going up. And at the very end, we dipped our bare feet in the inviting, yet freezing mountain water for a while, then packed up the cars for the bumpy ride home.
All in all, it was a great adventure! The Sawtooth's are beautiful! And we really enjoyed the time we got to share together.

Our Wedding

I know we've been married a few months now...but, I can't miss out on putting pictures of the most memorable day of our lives in our blog.

On November 24, 2007, Curtis and I were sealed in the Laie Hawai'i Temple on Oahu. We had right around 30 guests that came with us to celebrate this special occasion. Though we had a few guests that were return visitors to the isles, it was a first for many.

Our wedding itself was planned around the BSU vs Hawai'i football game, taking place at the Aloha Stadium, over Thanksgiving weekend. (Blue & orange were even our wedding colors!) And even though we lost, it was a great game! Our group made it on ESPN at least 4 or 5 times!!!

Then we spent our honeymoon on the North Shore of the island, staying at the Turtle Bay Resort in a beautiful beach cottage. We snorkeled, boogie boarded, surfed, golfed, shopped, got tattoos (don't worry, they washed off the next day), and ate Dole pineapple! We also hung out with family & friends - hey, it's not everyday you're in Hawai'i with them!
The waters were gorgeous, the beaches combed with white sand, the golf courses - amazing! And, our wedding pictures on the beach - priceless!!!

Our First Blog

Well...Kelli & Dan have motivated us to join the world of technology and start a blog! It seems like such a good way to share with family & friends what is going on in our lives! And who doesn't love the adorable pix of Halle on Kelli & Dan's blog! Hopefully you'll enjoy the adorable pix of us, almost as much we do Halle's. :)
